Mushroom Anchors

Nylon (3/8 or 1/2 inch)
Traditional nylon rope is heavy and absorbs water, making it a poor choice for ultralight systems. A 50-foot length of 3/8-inch nylon weighs 2.5–3 pounds.
It’s strong and reliable, but the weight cost is too high for kayak camping. If you’re already carrying nylon for other purposes, use it; don’t buy it specifically for anchoring.

A complete ultralight anchor system has three parts: the anchor, the primary rope, and a secondary line for backup or adjustment.
